For many BMW enthusiasts WedsSport is a fairly new name. In fact, WedsSport racing had a long association with BMW in the 90s. WedsSport had participated in the Japanese JTCC (Japan Touring Car Championship) with the BMW E30 platform. Due to the changing of rules and regulation with Japanese motor sport arena, the BMW was later replaced. However, WedsSport continued to offer products for the BMW enthusiasts, celebrating the heritage and involvement with BMW cars.

WedsSport - Pushing the boundry with experimental Carbon Fiber wheel.
Few years ago, Weds have experiment with Carbon Fiber material for wheel making. This experiment served three purpose. 1. Our forward thinking and ability to experiment with exotic materials for rim making. 2. Our pursuit in understanding rim structure with various alternative materials. 3. Measuring the possibility of taking something from concept to reality.
Results -
We were able to make a rim using carbon fiber, not shown in photo but we’ve also made a hybrid (Mixing aluminum with carbon fiber). Yes, Carbon Fiber has lived up to its name by allow to achieve ridiculas lighter weight. However, there are also some impracticality of this material when used on rim. Carbon Fiber is a strong material, but as like any fiber, biggest threat is fraying. In this case, if the rim were suffer curb damage, the protective gel-coat would first crack and peel then expose the Carbon Fiber for fraying, then lose its strengh. While there are other companies in the racing wheel manufacturing industry “tried” to introduce them to the real-world market, but has yet seen any concrete success.
